If you have ever caught wind of his captivating and need I say dynamic presenting skills on V-Entertainment or Turn-Up and thought this was his introduction to the industry… you’d be wrong. You see, Port Elizabeth born Siyabonga Ngwekazi aka Scoop Makhathini was first thrust into the limelight when a chance encounter led to him hosting magazine street show “Street Journal”, an opportunity he didn’t at all waste. It was on this show that his influence and knowledge of urban street culture was first noticed. Since then he has gone on to exert considerable influence and garner respect in industry circles.
His achievements to date include co-hosting the 8th Annual Metro FM Music Awards and The Real Goboza in 2008. He went on to land a co-hosting job on V-Entertainment in 2009 and the following year served as Digital Host for the 16th Annual South African Music Award. In 2011 he found himself hosting docu-reality series “Top Shayela” and in 2012 he partnered with Thomas Gumede and Lungile Radu (another delicious human) to produce and star in “Forever Young” through their production company Parental Advisory. He’s dabbled in radio as well and is known for his bold fashion choices.
Regardless of his accolades and career success, Scoop remains the authentic, charismatic individual that you can’t help but be drawn to. He dresses the way he feels, speaks the way he wants, voices his opinions without needing to bash and most importantly he uses his platforms not just to entertain but to inform and educate.
Siyabonga Ngwekazi not just are you the voice of my generation as far as urban street culture is concerned but you are my Man Crush Every-Damn-Day!
